Just taken delivery of the Asus Eee PC 900 [purple - looks more pink than purple!]. Unpacked the device, it was already charged, and I was surfing the internet in under 3 minutes - very impressive!!
My device runs on Linux which looks and feels different to windows [which must be good] it takes a little getting used to but it is worth it. Have not found anything the device cannot do that I want it to - yet.
Only problem is the poor battery life. The PC shipped with a 4400mAh battery which only gave me max 1 hour 15 minutes, so I invested in a 10000mAh battery which gives 4 to 5 hours of life.
Verdict - if you want a machine to access the internet, do some word and spreadsheet stuff and is very portable you can't beat this one - but you will need to invest in a long life battery!

My wifes lap died suddenly and after research decided on the Asus Eee900 Linux machine as a replacement. In true Amazon style it arrived the following day.I spent three hours trying to get the device talking to the internet, with a message Pending constantly displayed, but no connection. I went online for help, Asus, forums etc. It turns out from th views of hundreds of other users Linux can either work perfectly out of the box, or be a nightmare, I had the nightmare version and had to return the unit for a dreaded windows version which works fine.

This is a great little thing. I initially bought one for myself and then my wife took it off me. so now she's got this one and we don't talk to each other.
The keys are big enough for my fat fingers, memory is fine, you just need to delete old big files like watched films, linux is easy to use as long as you don't like piddling about with a computers guts in which case you need to be a little bit more technical, it starts up and online in under two minutes, it looks cool, and is really light. battery lasts up to about 3 hours. seems fairly indestructible.

wondered what this solid state, linux os machine would be like.
its delightful, small, neat, quick enough, easy to use and understand.
haven't yet had a problem with it.
